The 3 Friends Story – Reality of Life!!

Three friends decide to go to China for vacation. Since they were new to the place they had to stay in a hotel. And their room ended up being on the 60th floor. The policy of the hotel was that at midnight the elevators were shut down. The next day, the friends rented a car and explored the city.

They enjoyed themselves and arrived at the hotel past midnight. The elevators were shut down. There was no other way to get to their room but to take the stairs all the way to the 60th floor.

One friend said: ‘For the first 20 floors, I will tell jokes to keep us going. Then another could say wise stories for the next 20 floors. Then, we will cover the final 20 floors with sad stories.’ So, he started with jokes. With laughs and joy, they reached the 20th floor. Another friend started saying stories full of wisdom. They learned a lot while reaching the 40th floor.

Now it was time for sad stories. So, the third friend started: ‘My first sad story is that I left the key for the room in the car.’

Moral: This story resembles our life cycle. For the first 20 years, we spend time in joking and enjoying whatever is out there. Then, at 20, we go into the work force, get married, have kids and this is the time when we use our wisdom. Then, if we reach 40, we see the white hair and begin to realize that life is coming to an end and I need to prepare for the Hereafter.

Sadly, many have left the keys behind. It’s better that we start life in the very beginning by remembering death rather than preparing for it at the end.

Work for your world as if you will live forever.
And work for your judgement day as if you will die tomorrow.

Good analogy about life. When it comes to real life situation, maybe the reverse would have been more practical, with the jokes reserved for the last 20 storeys. Very painful indeed to climb the last 20 stairs with sad stories!

Paras, if it is not interested to you only, you see it is so interesting for others…
Hope you bear with us, and if you think Sara’s emails has lost its attraction, you can easily unsubscribe which is better than discouraging someone from sending mails to all of us.
    Hope you understand it

    • Paras May 6, 2012 at 3:59 PM #

      Hi Mujeeb

There is a room for improvements…. and healthy critisism should not be construed as insult…. I hope Sara (I feel it is an assumed name) and her fans will understand it.

Now look at the story and analyse the situation. In this modern age, a hotel consists of 60+ floors, that too in a very advance country like China, would trun off the lifts at mid night…. It is unthinkable… as it does not happen even in less advanced countries.

The original JOKE was set in the ‘pre-mobile era’ and it was quite funny too. As in this situation one can call the front desk using his mobile and request for a duplicate key to be sent up. That joke has been modified to this story and turned its direction towards the religious preaching through the “Moral”!!!

The presence of a ‘MORAL’ at the end of story suggests that it is meant for immature brains who needs guidance to understand the purpose of the story. That is the reason I suggested Sara & Co. to select more mature stuff for grown ups too!!!

Sorry, I could not applause the story like other readers but will not unsubscribe either as some of the material have been interesting too.

  23. Nora May 6, 2012 at 2:08 AM #

    Dear Abdul salaam ,
I would like to make a note on what u said. Mohammad (pbup) cannot be compared to us. His life was unique in every way and it was ensured that he lead life as the best role model for all mankind. This however does not mean Islamic practice should start at 40. Prior to this he was still a practicing Muslim, he was honest and kind and feared Allah. For he was following the religion of Ibrahim. The new message was brought along through him since times were changing and a new way of life was introduced that which would bring success and happiness to those who followed it.
Both the sahabas and their beloved prophets’ lives were planned by Allah to benefit the ummah. Each step was taken with wisdom taking into consideration the fact that the whole town was against the true message and it was all very new to the whole world.
Hope this cleared your understanding. Please correct me if I am wrong

    Nora

It is a boring and stale joke, heard many years ago.

Please try sending stuff for grown ups too.

Sorry to say but your mails are losing interest and attraction!.

    • Hamdan Yahya May 5, 2012 at 6:48 PM #

      Hi, Paras
Maybe you are a knowledgeable man, please read the replies and apologise to Sara, because most of us read this story as first time.

      Thank u Sara & Paras

      • Paras May 5, 2012 at 7:18 PM #

        Hi Hamdan

I expressed what I felt…. I heard this joke many years ago, and i dont owe any apology.

Why the third person (who forgot the key in the car) kept quite until he reached the 40th floor? Some time try to climb 10 floors while uttering stories and see what happens to your lungs!

In the original joke the person forgets the key at the hotel reception counter and climb to top floor then he realizes of his mistake later they had to return all the way from top floor as there was no electricity to run the elevator. The story has been modified and now it has received the religious touch too (through moral writer).

Usually it takes 25 years or more to finish reasonable education (not 20), next 25 to 30 years are spent in carrier building and raising the family, remaining period is spent in other struggles. The cycle of 20-40-60 is not convincing or realistic.

The story is about forgetfulness and its consequences…. leading to a painfull but funny situation.

        Paras

          YOU R RIGHT PARAS

        • Am!n@ May 15, 2012 at 12:50 AM #

hello paras, instead of criticizing minute details (like whether it takes 20 years or 25 years to finish education, etc) in the story, why don’t you appreciate how beautifully it has been compared to the reality of life??

It’s an old joke converted into something beneficial to learn from. Indeed, it’s true that people spend their youth in enjoyment, then gain little wisdom as they are burdened with responsibilities in the middle ages, and finally in old age, people realize they haven’t really fulfilled the purpose for what they were created.

I really appreciate whoever has authored it. Thank you.

Ya , simply the truth…….The key of our sucess is the preparation for hereafter from the very begining ……and we cannot get it if we realise the same at the peak of the age….
