Many years ago, when I worked as a volunteer at National Hospital, I got to know a little girl named Hana who was suffering from a rare and serious disease.
Her only chance of recovery appeared to be a blood transfusion from her 5-year old brother, who had miraculously survived the same disease and had developed the antibodies needed to combat the illness.
The doctor explained the situation to her little brother, and asked the boy if he would be willing to give his blood to his sister.
I saw him hesitate for only a moment before taking a deep breath and saying, “Yes, I’ll do it if it will save Hana.”
As the transfusion progressed, he lay in bed next to his sister and smiled, as we all did, seeing the color returning to her cheeks. Then his face grew pale and his smile faded. He looked up at the doctor and asked with a trembling voice, “Will I start to die right away?”
Being young, the boy had misunderstood the doctor; he thought he was going to have to give his sister all of his blood.
Inspite of that he was ready to give his blood.
How many times in our life, we are asked to give less than that, still we hesitate?
If all the people in the world were so generous like the little boy, the world would be a better place!!
You are absolutely right. If all the people in the world were
so generous like the little boy, the world would be a better place.
Very heart touching story!
Many thanks Sara.
May Allah give you and the entire FFJ team more wisdom.
hi sarah, wat a touching story pls keep up is a good lesson thankz nd God bless.
Thank you Ashafz
fictional yet nice lesson..
another great story!
My dog is Mr Peel
why do you promote your dog name every time?is that a imported dog?
Fathima, I simply was giving my dog a little international attention. He is a very old white boxer and truely my best friend. I mean no harm and I guess being a little silly. Admin (Sara) asked me about it and I have refrained from mentioning him lately. I do love my dog, Mr Peel, very much.
You have freedom of speech Mr.Roderick. 🙂
oh… if that is the case then its perfectly all right..
Thank you Sara, Allah bless you, for such a wonderful story, everyday I have a nice story for my children to tell.
I have goose bumps on my body while reading it, what a wonderful boy and a great brother. Allah bless these young kids with a long and healthy life -amin
HI SARA, THANKS A LOT FOR THIS NICE AND TOUCHING STORY. WE SHOULD FOLLOW SUCH EXAMPLE.
HAVE A NICE DAY.
We should learn that being specific in our statements is a MAJOR and important
issue.
A powerful theme. Also it may be worth mentioning about the medical and ethical responsibility of a Doctor to take blood from a 5 year child.I t would be safe to assume that the Doctor knew well what he was doing.
Oh for the sweetness and innocence of a young child!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please help me

IN ANY WAY BLOOD IS USED TO SAFEGUARD SOMEONES LIFE.
No comment is necessary. GREAT!
i like that it was wooow
The intiative to educate about blood donating is really a good one. But the above story that you gave is fully fictional, because the eligibility to donate blood is the donor must be healthy, at least 18 years old and weight at least 45 kgs.
To me Generosity is the main subject of the story and Blood donation was an example.

Blood banks do make exceptions for those younger than 17 for very special occassions like harvesting blood for cancer reasons or autologous blood transfusions etc
I think the procedure for blood donation is that they take the blood and then run some tests on it before transfusing it to the other patient…unlike the procedure shown in this story and movies.
But in any case…good story for kids.
all of you fail to understand the moral of the story , its the literal meaning its the way that brother wanted to sacrifice to save his sis , you have failed severely to understand that !
agree
Thanks for the nice story about sharing. Keep it up Sara.
🙂
